Kathryn W.Coccia, PHD, MT-BC

I am an interprofessional scholar and clinician dedicated to improving care experiences and outcomes for older adults. My research includes work on ageism, geriatric workforce development, Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias, hospice and palliative care, and non-pharmacological interventions for older adults, including music therapy.

I recently completed my PhD in Social Work at Saint Louis University, where my dissertation introduced a first-of-its-kind TikTok-based intervention designed to boost health students’ interest in geriatrics through parasocial engagement with older adults.

Before pursuing my doctorate, I worked as a board-certified music therapist, primarily in hospice care, and supervised music therapy interns and practicum students. I am currently seeking research and academic opportunities where I can continue contributing to innovative, interdisciplinary aging scholarship.
